Turquoise's management team consists of an Executive Board, based in the company's London office and the Fund Manager and the Investment Committee based in the Tehran office.



The Executive Board is in charge of setting the overall strategy and objectives of the company and has a supervisory role. The following individuals are in the Executive Board of Turquoise:

Rouzbeh Pirouz - Executive Director
Mr. Pirouz is Senior Partner at Pelican Partners, a private equity and real estate investment firm in London. Previously, Mr. Pirouz was Founder and CEO of Mondus, the leading b2b procurement business in Europe, leading to a share sale to Telecom Italia at a valuation of over $300 million. Mr. Pirouz was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford Universitiy and Harvard. He was selected by World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader in 2006.

Tim de Borde - Finance Director
Chartered Accountant and former FD at Mondus Ltd, Mr de Borde is a Partner in Pelican Partners focusing on deal structuring and financing. As a senior manager at Mazars he gained broad business experience, including working in underdeveloped markets. Currently, he is also Director of Marden, a real estate fund, through which he has fund management experience.

Marcus Gerhardt - Director
Mr. Gerhardt is Founder of BBI Invest, an investment company focused on the technology transfer and growth of businesses in Europe and emerging markets such as China. In his previous position, he raised financing from strategic investors (Seat Pagine Gialle) and VCs totaling €170 million. Mr. Gerhardt has a MPhil in Modern Middle East Studies and Persian from Oxford University.

Everyday decision-makings and operational management of the company is conducted from Tehran. The team in Tehran consists of the Managing Director who also acts as the Fund Manager as well as a dynamic research team with backgrounds in some of Iran's most famous banking, investment and brokerage institutions. The profile of the Fund Manager is presented below:

Ramin Rabii - Managing Director & Fund Manager
Mr. Rabii was an Iran Analyst for Exclusive Analysis in London, identifying and forecasting business risks associated with potential foreign investment. Prior to that he worked for Tehran-based Atieh Bahar Consulting, advising clients' on their foreign investment strategy in Iran. Mr. Rabii has an international educational background, having obtained a Master degree in International Management for the Middle East and North Africa from SOAS University of London and his BSc from Queens University in Canada.

Fund Manager: as a link between the Tehran and London offices, Fund Manager is in charge of setting up and presiding over the Investment Committee meetings on a bi-weekly basis as well as reporting the latest investment decisions and company updates to the Executive Board during weekly conference calls

Portfolio Manager: one of the members of the Investment Committee is the portfolio manager of one of Iran's most successful public investment companies with more than $100 million asset under management. His practical experience and market knowledge provides Turquoise with a unique access to local fund management practices.

Independent Analyst: with extensive experience in fundamental and technical analysis of listed companies as well as detailed sector research and analysis, this committee member provides Turquoise with the technical know-how of analyzing different sectors and listed companies based on latest reports, news, rumors as well as historical data.

Broker: Another member of the committee is a representative of one of the Iranian registered stock brokers. Having access to Trading Stations and full list of transactions gives this member of the committee an opportunity to provide Turquoise with exceptional information regarding buy and sell opportunities as well as insider information that could prove very useful in a market like the Tehran Stock Exchange.

In-house Researchers: There are two researchers on the committee who have years of successful personal investment experiences on the market. The professional backgrounds of these members are large state-owned banks and investment companies. Having a presence in the office on a regular basis, these members are in charge of conducting the day-to-day research and report preparation required for the fund management.
